If HP Compaq does not have the driver/s you need and has not supplied. The number you give seems to go with the Ethernet Controller on the motherboard. DC5800 - HP Support Forum - 5055760. It's quite possible there are no drivers available, problem being Vista-compatible drivers may not work.

I have a DC5800 with Windows 10 installed, and I found the link below with all the drivers needed to get everything installed properly, but the liks for the files are all broken.

Hi, @Fabiano_Silva

HP combined the business support site and the consumer support site into one site in April of this year.

So any references to drivers posted from the business support site no longer work.

Just post the names of the devices that need the drivers, and I will post the direct links to the W7 drivers you need for them to work on W10.

You wouldn't use any of the XP drivers when there are W7 drivers available.

Windows 10 should have automatically installed the ethernet drivers.

I have a dc7800 which runs W10 just fine, and W10 automatically installed the ethernet driver.

The dc7800 is the upscale model of the dc5800, and it uses the exact same ethernet adapter.

The only drivers I needed to install were the W7 Soundmax audio driver, the Intel HECI driver and the Intel AMT-SOL driver.

Nothing else was needed.

So, I don't know what to tell you unless you have an add on ethernet adapter that is not W10 compatible.

Just post the hardware ID for the device that needs the driver. Then I'll see what I can do to help.

Hi:

That is a wireless network adapter which I doubt will work on W10, and it was not supplied by HP.

But you can try the driver I have zipped up and attached below and hope that it works.

If not, just buy an external usb wireless network adapter that has support for W10.

You will need to manually install the driver as follows..

Download and unzip the file I attached below, to its folder.

Go to the device manager and click on the Network Controller device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and see if the driver installs that way.

Then restart the PC.

The driver folder I attached does have support for the hardware ID you posted..but it is from 2009.

Hi:

You need this driver for that device, and it will not solve the network issue.

This package contains the Intel Active Client Manager Host Embedded Controller Interface (HECI) device driver for the supported desktop models and operating systems.

Your ethernet chip is missing from the device manager. Probably a hardware failure.

If the ethernet device needed a driver, you should be seeing a device labeled as an Ethernet Controller.

I know that the embedded rj-45 was working before the power loss but i don't remember the name of the onboard network adapter. Anyways, I'll be back soon with some updates regarding the pci. :)

After a windows troubleshooter search i got this:

I have the onboard Intel RU82566DM Ethernet Transceiver - Gigabit Lan Connect .. stuff. hehe

Can someone help me with a driver for this?

The only suggestion I can offer would be to use the driver directly from Intel if the one on the dc5800 support page didn't work.

The 2nd driver down on the left side of the page is for 64 bit.

I would like to try the drivers from the dc5800 support page but there are 7 drivers on the network tab, for win7 pro x64 and i don't know if i need to install all of them or just one.

For now, I will try to install the Intel-Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-7 for the 64 bit version and i'll come back a little bit later with the result. :)

Hi:

If your device manager does not have an ethernet controller showing up as in your first screenshot, then the power failure blew out the ethernet chip.

I would suggest getting an external USB to RJ-45 10/100/1000 ethernet adapter or an internal PCI ethernet adapter.

It's not a driver problem if there is no ethernet controller listed as needing a driver, like there was the PCI Simple Communications controller.

It happens a lot when you have a power failure or power surge.
